The Fabulous Fox Theatre celebrated its 75th anniversary on Sunday, December 26, 2004 with a full day of live shows, movies and fun activities for all ages. From 1pm-7pm the public rediscovered The Fox Theatre. Guests experienced the glitz and glamour reminiscent of opening day in 1929. Celebrations and activities took them on a journey through the history of the theatre from its beginning to when it was saved to present day.

"We want to thank everyone who joined us on December 26. The public’s support was overwhelming and greater than we ever anticipated. We are proud to celebrate 75 years of arts and entertainment in Atlanta," said Edgar Neiss, General Manager of the Fox Theatre.

At 1 p.m., The Fox Theatre kicked off the open house with a ribbon-cutting ceremony including Mayor Shirley Franklin, a representative from Governor Purdue’s office, and a great friend of The Fox; Jeff Foxworthy. It even “snowed,” as it did on opening day in 1929. Celebrations included a replication of the 1929 opening day live variety show, several screenings of Georgia Public Broadcasting's 90-minute documentary on the history of The Fox Theatre, the music of “Sentimental Journey,” a 17-piece live orchestra and singers and the option for free dance lessons courtesy of Fred Astaire Dance Studios. Also included were arts and crafts for adults & children led by The Fos Theatre's in-house restoration staff and splendiferous anniversary cakes created by neighboring hotel pastry chefs.
