VOLUNTEER USHER PROGRAM
Thank you for your interest in our Fox Volunteer Program. We are currently in the process of filling our openings for the 2013/2014 season with the applications that have been received. At this time, no additional applications will be accepted. If you submitted an application you will be contacted should your application fit our needs during the season. All applications will be kept on file for consideration for one year. If you have not been chosen to participate in the Volunteer Program during this year, you are welcome to check back next year and re-apply at that time.
Again we appreciate your interest in our volunteer program here at the Fox Theatre.
What are the requirements?
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Neat appearance
- Good communication skills
- No physical limitations
- It is required that each participant completes the Volunteer Usher Orientation Class prior to ushering. This is a privilege, so you are expected to understand the seating arrangements, wear the appropriate attire, be able to take patrons to their seats, stand and do steps, be able to direct people to the lounges and concessions and stuff the playbills before we open the doors.
It is also important that you show up by your call time which is generally one hour and forty-five minutes before the show actually starts. (Note: Ushers coming in later than the assigned call time could be sent home at the discretion of the management.) Each volunteer should be capable of standing until each show begins and for sold out shows will be required to stand until released from duty.
Ushers are not allowed to use cell phones while on duty.
Current Ushers with an ID# for events requiring Ushers.
Enter your ID number in the User Name box and then the password you have selected. (If you are unable to access the system you have most likely been voided out due to your inactive status). If you wish to be reactivated please see below
Former ushers that would like to get reactivated can contact Ken Shook for more details. Ushers needing to be reactivated will be assessed a reactivation fee determined by the amount of information needed to be reactivated.
How many shows must an usher work?
Once you complete the orientation program we ask that you maintain active status by working at least one show per month to remain active
If you become inactive after a six month period, you
will be dropped from the program and you may be asked to pay a reactivation fee to
be put back into the system
How long do ushers stay for each performance?
Most ushers stay through the duration of the performance but are usually released from duty ten minutes after the intermission ends.
Are ushers allowed to bring in food to eat before the show begins?
All food and drinks must be consumed before you check in for your assignments. If you bring food with you, you will be asked to remain in the main arcade until you finish eating.
